Brunson vs. Romero & Cedenblad vs. Hamman Added to UFC 164
UFC officials have announced that a pair of Middleweight bouts have made their way onto the UFC 164 card with Derek Brunson (10-2) facing Yoel Romero (5-1) and Magnus “Jycken” Cedenblad (10-4) taking on Jared “The Messenger” Hamman (13-5).
Jackson’s/Winkeljohn’s fighter Derek Brunson is coming off a UFC 155 debut, decision win over Chris Leben. Brunson was expected to face Ronny Marks at UFC on FX 8, but the fight was canceled when Markes was in a car accident while en route to the weigh-ins.
Former Olympic wrestler and American Top Team product Yoel Romero had a successful UFC debut at UFC on Fox7 knocking out Clifford Starks in 32 seconds.
MagnusCedenblad made his UFC debut back at UFC on Fuel TV 2 in April of 2012, losing by submission to Francis Carmont. The loss ended a 7 fight winning streak. The “Jycken” will also have to fight 16 months of cage rust.
Jared Hamman comes into this fight with his back against the wall having lost 3 of his last 4 fights, including consecutive losses to Cotas Philippou (KO), and Michael Kuiper (TKO). The Messenger has 10 of 12 stoppage wins by KO.TKO.
UFC 164 takes place on August 31, at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and ius healdined by TJ Grant challenging Benson “Smooth” Henderson for the UFC Lightweight title.
