On Wednesday June 12 Chavez Promotions held a press conference at the Albuquerque Convention Center for their June 28 event “Aztec Warriors” which takes place in the same venue. In the main event Albuquerque New Mexico’s Cristian “El Puma” Cabral (5-0-1, 3 KO) will put his undefeated record on the line against the tough tested Joe Gomez (18-7-1, 8 KO) from Farmington, New Mexico.
In the co-main event bout Albuquerque, New Mexico’s Victoria “La Reina de Guerra” Cisneros (9-14-2, 3 KO) takes on Tyler, Texas’s Kita Watkins (7-10, 1 KO).
Coming off a win, less than 2 weeks ago Las Vegas, New Mexico’s Arturo “El Toro” Crespin (9-2-1, 4 KO) is returning right back to the ring to face in a rematch Jose Garcia (3-5-1, 2 KO).
Robert Josh Chavez (1-0) and Mike Quezada (0-1) met in their pro debuts, with a feeling of unfinished business they meet again less than 3 moths later.
At the press conference it was also announced that Anthony “The Lion of Juda” Jones (0-1) will square off with Ricky Villafuerte (0-3) of the Warriors Academy.
Highlight quotes form the press conference include:
“Aztec Warrior”, with 3 fighters on this event representing the Warriors Academy including Main event-er Cristian Cabral; and with his opponent Joe Gomez being from Aztec, New Mexico; the name came together.
Cristian Cabral– “I’ve been sparring with some good guys and I’m ready for this guy . He has more fights then me, that’s not a problem; I’ll be ready for him”.
Victoria Cisneros– “The girl I’m fighting she ranked number 4 in the United States and she’s a tough girl. I don’t care. I’m here to fight, I’m here to put on a fight . Everybody wants to see a fight they know me. That’s my life. That’s what I love to do. I’m training hard. I know with opening the gym a lot of people are going to say, I’m too busy and this or that. No excuses in my book. I’m here to fight. I’m a born fighter I don’t care what anybody says.
Arturo Crespin– “I’m excited to be back in the ring and am looking to put on a good show”.
Mike Quezada– “I’m going to put on the best show I can for you guys”.
Robert Josh Chavez-“Basically I’m training twice as hard as I did my last camp and I’m ready to fight”.
