Grant Injured, Pettis Meets Henderson at UFC 164

MMA: UFC on FOX 6-Cerrone vs Pettis

The universe works in mysterious ways like how after campaigning to be injected into the UFC 164 main event title bout against Benson “Smooth” Henderson (19-2), a TJ Grant injury has occurred and Anthony “Showtime” Pettis (16-2) will get his wish to have a title bout in his home town of Milwaukee Wisconsin on August 31; at the Bradley center.

Benson Henderson has won 7 fights in a row since losing to Anthony Pettis in the final WEC Lightweight title bout. Henderson recently received his Black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. “Smooth” is coming off a UFC on Fox 7 split decision win over Gilbert Melendez, which was his 3rd successful title defense.

After defeating Henderson, Pettis would loose his UFC debut to Clay Guida by unanimous decision. “Showtime” has since won 3 fights in a row over Jeremy Stephens (SD), Joe Lauzon (KO), and Donald Cerrone (KO). Pettis was expected to Face Jose Aldo at UFC 163, but was forced out of that bout with a slight injury.

There has been no word on the injury or recovery timetable for TJ Grant.
