Healy Meets Nurmagomedov at UFC 165

A showdown of Lightweight grapplers has been added to UFC 165 with American wrestler Pat “Bam Bam” Healy (29-16) facing undefeated Sambo expert Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov (20-0).

Healy at UFC 159 made his promotional debut submitting Jim Miller. Healy would test positive for Marijuana is the post-fight drug screen, turning the win into a no contest. Healy had won 6 consecutive bouts in Strikeforce, prior to entering the UFC.

Since joining the UFC Nurmagomedov has defeated Kamal Shalorus, Gleison Tibau, Thiago Tavares, and Able Trujillo. In his last contest vs. Able Trujillo a strong wrestler, “The Eagle” weighed in over the 156 lbs. limit; but did put on a 15-minute suplex and pressure clique in his win.

Also a Heavyweight battle between TUF 10 alums Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub (9-3) and Matt “Meathead” Mitrione (5-2), that was scheduled for UFCX on Fox 8 has been rescheduled for the September  21, event. Mitrione is coming off a KO win over Phil De Freis while Schaub is coming off a unanimous decision win over Lavar Johnson.

UFC 165 takes place on September 21, at the Air Canada Centre in Toranto, Ontario, Canada; and is headlined by Alexander Gustafsson challenging Jon Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight championship.
