It looks like the Welterweight debut of Rousimar Palhares (14-5) will happen at Octobers UFC Fight Night 29. Welcoming Palhares to his weight class will be a longtime hard nosed member of the division Mike Pierce (17-5).

Palhares went into to UFC on Fox 3 riding a 3 fight winning streak. Alan Belcher would end the streak on that night; Palhares would also loose his next fight to Hector Lombard. Palhares is ultra dangerous with submission, especially leg lock; but tends to have a one-dimensional offense.

Pierce on the other hand has won 4 consecutive fights over the like of Carlos Rocha, Aaron Simpson, Seth Bacznski, and David Pierce; since a split decision loss to Josh Koscheck. Pierce is a quite guy who gets in the cage uses his wrestling, puts guys in the clinch and beats them up form the inside; a true grinder. This has not made for an exciting style and could attribute to why Pierce is not receiving higher profiled match-ups.

UFC Fight Night 29 takes place on October 9, at the Jose Correa Arena, in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
