Triple A MMA North vs. South Results, Borg dominate in win over Sanchez
Triple A MMA took place on Sunday August 18th, at the Crowne Plaza in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the top of this events card are two bouts where the winners punch their tickets to Bellator. The win to get in bout feature in the co-main event Josh “Big Country” Lanier vs. Henry Ramos; and in the main event Ray Borg vs. Angelo Sanchez. Full results below..
Amateur Card
Bout number 1: Dorian Dixion 3-3 vs. AJ Garza 0-1 – 155 lbs.
Rd 1 – Garza run out looks right for the clinch and is trying to get the take-down. In the scramble of the take down attempt Dixon turn is body over and lands in mount on top of Garza. Dixon is in top position but Garza is doing a good job of controlling Dixons head and avoiding damage.
Rd 2 – Dixon drop Garza with a leg kick. As Garza scrambles for a take down on the ground Dixion takes the back even traping Garza’s arm in the body triangle and then the rear naked choke is quickly locked in.

Bout number 2: Max Spiller 2-0 vs. Steven Gonzales 2-0 – 145 lbs.
Rd 1- Spiller Grabs the clinch lands a knee and breaks away. Gonzales lands a take and after spiller throws a 12-6 illegal elbow, strangely the ret restarts the fight standing. Spiller is tagging Gonzalez in the mouth, blood is leaking. Gonzales showing life again charges forward with a comb8ination drops level land the take down. The ref again stop the action. Spiller is deducted 1 point for another illegal 12-6 elbow. They are restarted on the feet spiller land huge knees in clinch before being taken down at the end f the round.
Rd 2- Spiller is finding a home for everything he’s throwing, most notably a stepping back left hook. Gonzales fire back and misses. Gonzalez is trying to take the battle to the ground but spiller defends and punches to answer. Gonzales completes the takedown. Spiller while on his back is throwing a large volume of elbow and punches. Spiller get back to his feet pressures Gonzales to the corner and after rapid fire knees the ref steps in and stops the fight.

Bout number 3: Jerome Rivera 1-0 vs. Bruce Lee Romero 0-0 – 130 lbs.
Rd 1-Rivera starts off with a high kick that missies. Romero answers with a few legs kicks before a counter right drops Romero. Working on top Rivera slides to side control and then to mount. Romero regain ½ guard. Rivera allows Romero back to the feet. Rivera land some monster knees dropping Romero to his knees and a knee to the side Romero jumps back up on the way is being tagged by several lefts. Rivera grabs the clinch lands more knees but gets off balance and lands on his back. Rivera sweeps does work before standing and allowing Romero to get back up. Romero in on and competes and take down ending the round on top not doing much damage.
Rd 2- Romero walks through a few Rivera strikes to clinch and land a take down. Rivera right way locks up a triangle choke and sweep land punches from the top. The fight is stopped with a choke and strikes.

Bout number 4: Mateo Sanchez 0-0 vs. Garry Taylor 0-0 – 145 lbs.
Rd 1- Sanchez stats off quickly with a leg kick, front kick that lands, misses a flying knee. Sanchez changes level scores the takedown. Taylor locks in a guillotine. Sanchez pops his head out lads a big punch and mover right to mount. While on top Sanchez locks in a triangle rolls to his back, rolls back on top switches to the armbar and we have a tap

Jacob Espana vs. Levi Lucero 0-2 – 125 lbs. Cancelled for personal reasons.
Bout number 5: Ozzy Chavez 1-0 vs. Stephen Cervantes 1-0 – 135 lbs.
Rd 1- Chavez starts off fir8ing a kick to the body. They clinch Cervantes gets the takedown. Chavez pops back to his feet. Keeping the pressure on Cervantes completes another take down. Chavez locks up a guillotine while Cervantes is in ½ guard. Cervantes is able to work to side control. Chavez gives up the back and Cervantes dives on a leg. Cervantes scrambles and takes the back and is landing lil punches. Round ends with Chavez about to turn to be in guard
Rd 2- Cervantes comes out land two leg kick before Chavez counters with a straight. Cervantes shoots and scores the takedown . Cervantes fights his way past a triangle attempt. Chavez turns giving his back and Cervantes takes the opportunity to jump on the back and sink in the rear naked choke.

Bout number 6: John Rozema 2- 0 vs. Jesse Long 3-2 – 145 lbs.
Rd 1 – Long rushes to the center of bthe cage looking for a late down. Ro is scrambling and fighting but stuccoes to the relentlessness of Long. Long is able to work his way to side control. Long working for the cur fix but after Rozema tries to lock up his back leg Long, Allows Rozema to Stand. Long scores another takedown but Rozema works back to his feet. Long comes forward but Rozema meets him with a crisp combination. On a second attempt long shoot in along the cage lift Rozema and slams for the takedown. Long work to the mount drops a right hand. That causes Rozema to move and long sinks in the head and arm choke for the tap.

Pro Card
Bout number 7: Michael Gallegos 0-0 vs. Derek Perez 3-2 – 135 lbs.
Rd 1- Perez opens up with consecutive low kicks. Gallegos clinches Perez throws 2 big knees, Gallegos tried for the take down. Perez while defending the takedown locks up a guillotine pulls guard and lets the ref know Gallegos is asleep.
Result- Derek Perez def, Michael Gallegos by submission (guillotine) 0:40 of round 1
Win To Get In Bouts
Bout number 8: Josh Lanier 7-7 vs. Henry Ramos 3-2 – 220 lbs.
Rd 1- Lanier throws a high head kick follow it up with a level change a takedown moves to the back and sinks in the rear naked choke for the win.
Result – Josh Lanier def. Henry Ramos by submission (rear naked choke) at 0:21 of round 2
Bout number 9: Angelo Sanchez 12-3 vs. Ray Borg 3-0 at 135 lbs.
Rd 1 – Sanchez comes out looking to work the jab but Borg blocks all the strikes. Borg ducks under and completes the takedown. Borg in gurad uses the can opener to open Sanchez’s guard with the opening borg lands an elbow. Sanchez tries for an armbar and is met with a big right hand .Borg tries top advance position but is swept. Sanchez takes borgs back, Borg spins out and grabs aleg and compeletes a high single leg for the take down. Sanchez shifts his hips gets against the cage and stands back up. Round ends on the cage in the clinch.
Rd 2- Borg comes out with the high kick, Sanchez cuts off a circling Borg. Pressuring Borg against the fence Sanchez tries a take down. Getting too lo on the takedown Borg takes Sanchez’s back. Sanchez tries for a triangle but escapes. Borg is in the guard on top land punches. Sanchez open his guard shifts his hips and look to wall walk. Borg pulls Sanchez away from the cage with a single leg maintaining top control. The length of Sanchez is making it hard for Borg to land with big power. Borg momentarily passes the guard and lands 2 punches. Sanchez regains guard. Borg tries to take the back, Sanchez twists and end the round on top in Borg’s guard.
Rd 3- Sanchez lands with a low kick to start the round. And then a second. Sanchez then rushes toward Borg who duck under and scores the takedown. Sanchez tries for a triangle choke but Borg defends. Borg picks Sanchez up from by the cage and slams Sanchez back towards the center. Sanchez come close to an oma plata but again Borg defends. Borg allows Sanchez to his feet just to ducks under the first strike and score another take down. Borg stacks Sanchez and moves to side control. Sanchez tries to stand but Borg takes the back. Borg scrambles back to the top and ends the round landing punches. We go to the judges score cards.
