On the Fox Sports 1 show UFC tonight it was announced that Women’s top ranked Flyweight (125 lbs.) Jessica “Evil” Eye (10-1), will be moving to Bantamweight (135 lbs.), as she has signed with the UFC; and they currently only have one women’s weight class.
The question of against who and when will Eye make her promotional debut have already started. The answer that seems to be in the works is against former Strikefroce Bantamweight champion Sarah Kaufman (16-2) at UFC 166.
Eye who was recently released from Bellator after the promotion decided to do away with there women’s division. Eye’s last victory came by unanimous decision over Carina Damm. A bout prior “Evil” defeated Zoila Frausro Gurgel at Bellator 83 by way of standing arm-triangle, in less than a minute into the 1st round.
Kaufman was expected to be in action on August 28, at UFC Fight Night 27, against Sara McMann, Injury has sideline McMann and Kaufman was pulled from the event when it was announced a suitable replacement couldn’t be found on the short notice. Kaufman is coming off a split decision win Leslie Smith at Invicta FC 5.
UFC 166 takes place on October 19th, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas; and is headlined by Junior dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez III.
