Rosa Collides with Zayats at Bellator 103

Bellator MMA has added to the depths of their 205 lbs. division with the signing of UFC and Strikeforce vet Aaron Rosa (17-5), who will get right to work at Bellator 103 against Mikhail Zayats (21-7).

Rosa last competed as a boxer fighting Manuel Aguirre Alvarez and Domonique Smith to draws. Rosa signed with the UFC after a 4 fight winning streak that started with a Bellator 20 decision win over Robert Villegas. Once in the UFC Rosa would go 1-2, defeating Matt Lucas by decision, while suffering TKO losses to Joey Beltran and James Te Huna; before being released from the UFC and attempting the aforementioned a boxing career.

Zayats entered Bellator and the season 8 Light Heavyweight tournament on the strength a 5 fight win streak. Zayats in the quarterfinal round would score a 3rd round TKO win over Renato “Babulo” Sobral, that would see Sobral retire off the loss. In the semifinals Zayats defeated Jacob Noe by submission. Zyatas will now be looking to rebound off a unanimous decision loss to Emanuel Newton in the finals.

Bellator 103 takes place on October 11, at the Kansas Star Casino in Wichita, Kansas; and will feature the season 9 Featherweight tournament semifinals of Patricio Freire vs. Fabricio Guerreiro and Joe Taimanglo vs. Justin Wilcox.
