After the dust has cleared from the rumors of Glover Teixeira challenging Jon Jones at UFC 169, it has been announced that not 1 but 2 titles will be on the line for the UFC’s super bowl weekend show.

Ricardo Lamas (13-2) gets his long awaited and campaigned for crack at dethroning UFC Featherweight king Jose Aldo (23-1) and champions collide as Renan Baroao (31-1) the interim Bantamweight champion takes on back from injury Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz (19-1).

Lamas in his last 4 fights has defeated Matt Grice (TKO), Cub Swanson (SUB), Hatsu Hioki (UD), and Erik Koch (TKO) to earn his first ever title shot.

Aldo has won 16 fights in a row including UFC wins over Mark Hominick (UD), Kenny Florian (UD), Chad Mendes (KO), Frankie Edgar (UD), and Chan Sung Jung (TKO). Aldo has been the top Featherweight in the world since defeating Mike Brown in November 2009, at WEC 44; and is the only ever UFC Featherweight champion.

Barao is undefeated in his last 31 fights including 21 wins in a row. Barao became the interim UFC Bantamweight champion by defeating Urijah Faber by unanimous decision after Dominick Cruz torn his ACL while training to defend the title against Faber. Barao has since successfully defended the interim title against Michael McDonald (SUB) and Eddie Wineland (TKO).

Cruz currently has a 10 fight winning streak but has not fought since October 2011, defeating Demetrious Johnson by unanimous decision at UFC Live 6. Cruz became the Bantamweight champion at WEC 47, when after breaking his hand in the 2nd rd Brian Bowles gave up; giving Cruz his first world title. Cruz defend the WEC title against Joseph Benavidez and Scott Jorgensen before the WEC merged with the UFC. Besides defending the UFC title against Johnson, Cruz was also successful in defense against Urijah Faber at UFC 132.

UFC 169 takes place on February 1 at the Prodential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
