Machida Meets Mousassi February 8

Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion recently turned Middleweight Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (20-4) will welcome former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champon Gegard “The Dreamcatcher” Mousasi (34-3-2) back to the 185 lbs. weight class in the main event of a UFC Fight Night event on February 8 in Brazil.

After a very close decision loss to Phil Davis, Machida decided to drop 20 lbs. and move to Middleweight. Machida made is divisional debut at UFC Fight Night 30 replacing an injured Micheal Bisping against, Machida’s own Friend Mark Munoz. The bout would end at the 3:10 mark of the 1st round with “The Dragon” landing a huge head kick for the win. Machida had been expected to debut at Middleweight on November 6 in the main event of UFC Fight Night 31, against Tim Kennedy; who is instead taking on Rafael Natal.

Mousasi a DREAM and Pride vet is undefeated in his last 7 bouts, including a 4 fight win streak. Mousasi has not competed since UFC on Fuel TV 9 in April of 2012, when “The Dreamcatcher” won a unanimous decision over Ilir Latif. Who was a late replacement for Alexander Gustafsson, who was foced out of the bout due to a cur received during training . Since then Mousasi has been sideline healing a knee injury.
