Gastelum Meets The Horror at UFC 171
The unofficial Welterweight showcase that is UFC 171 has announced the addition of the events 5th welterweight bout with news that TUF 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum (7-0) will square off with power house Rick “The Horror” Story (16-7).
Gastelum defeated Uriah Hall by split decision to become the season 17 “Ultimate Fighter”. Gastelum followed it up with a submission of Brian Melancon at UFC Fight Night 27. Gastelum had next been scheduled to face fellow TUF winner Court McGee, but was forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury.
Story is 3-2 in his last 5 fights, with wins over Brock Jardine, Quinn Mulhern, and Brian Ebersole; while falling to Mike Pyle and Demian Maia.
UFC 171 takes place on March 15 at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas; headlined by “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler battling Johny “Bigg Rigg” Hendricks for the vacant UFC Welterweight ttile.
