Light Heavyweight Title Unification Headlines Bellator 113

Attila Vegh (29-4-2) has recovered from injury and the Bellator Light Heavyweight champion will face interim champion Emanuel “The Hardcore Kid” Newton (22-7-1) in a unification bout that will main event Bellator 113 on March 21, at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Knasas.

Vegh has not fought since defeating Christian M’Pumbu by unanimous decision at Bellator 91, to become champion. Vegh who hails from Slovakia, is a member of American Top Team who earned his title shot by winning the 2012 Summer Series tournament; which included a 25 second destruction of Travis Wuff in the finals.

After suffering split decision loss to Vegh in the 2012 Summer Series semifinals, that ended a 6 fight winning streak; Newton would bounce back to win the season 8 tournament. With Vegh having been sidelined by injury, at Bellator 106 Newton rematch-ed Lawal the 2013 Summer Series Tournament champion, this time defeating Lawal by unanimous decision; after having knocked out Lawal at Bellator 90 in the 2012 Summer Series Semifinals.

At Bellator 113 the season 10 Lightweight quarterfinals will take place with season 8 tournament winner Dave “Caveman” Rickles (15-2) taking on tournament vet Patricky “Pitbull” Freire (11-5), UFC vet Terry Etim (16-5) meets the undefeated Derek Anderson (10-0), season 7 tournament finalist Marcin Held (16-3) collides with Brazilian Rodrigo Cavalheiro Correia (14-2), and Minnesota’s Brandon Girtz (10-3) squares off with Texan Derek “The Stallion” Campos (13-3).
