Shelmenko Defends Middleweight Title in Bellator 114 Main Event
Alexander “Storm” Shelmenko (49-7) the reigning Middleweight king of Bellator will defend his crown in the main event of Bellator 114 against season 9 tournament winner Brenndan “The Irish Bad Boy” Ward (9-1).
After defeating Maiquel Falcao to claim to vacant Bellator Middleweight strap, at Bellator 88, Shelmenko would twice defend the title during season 9; defeating Brett Cooper (UD) and Doug Marshall (KO).
Ward who has 10 career fight has fought 9 times in the last 2 years. Ward defeated Justin Torrey (TKO), Joe Pacheco (SUB), and Mikkel Parlo (TKO); to win the season 9 Middleweight tournament.
Also announced in his retiring fight, the inspirational season 7 Featherweight finalist Rad Martinez (14-3) says goodbye to the sport with a match-up with Edson “Little Tiger” Beto (17-11-1).
Bellator 114 will take place on March 28, at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah.
