Brazilian Former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior “Cigano” Dos Santos (16-3) will start his claim back to title contention starting with a co-main event bout against former golden gloves boxer and collegian wrestler Stipe Miocic (11-1).
Dos Santos at UFC 155 lost the UFC Heavyweight title to Cain Velasuqez by unanimous decision. With a spinning back kick knock out of Mark Hunt “Cigano” earned a chance at UFC 166 to get his belt back; but was stopped Velasquez in the 5th round.
After a TKO loss to Stefan Struve, Miocic rebounded using his agility and quick feet to better both Roy Nelson and Gabriel Gonzaga by unanimous decisions.
Out of 27 wins these two Heavyweight combine for 19 knock outs.
UFC 173 on May 24, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena is headlined by Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida challenging Chris “All-American” Weidman for the UFC Middleweight title.
