Patrick Cummins

The newest addition to the UFC’s first trip to New Mexico is a Light Heavyweight scrap pitting Patrick Cummins (4-1) against Francimar Barroso (16-4).

Cummins a former collegian wrestler, is coming off quite the short notice lead up to 170 UFC, engaging in a tremendous war of words with Daniel Cormier, who would disposes of his short notice replacement for Rashad Evans in under a minute an a half; knocking Cummins out of the ranks of the undefeated.

Barroso a member of Nova Uniao, is coming off having a 4 fight win streak, which included a unanimous decision win over Ednaldo Oliveriva, ended by a split decision loss to Hans Stringer. The 34 year old Brazilian has 14 stoppage wins with 8 by (T)KO.

The UFC has also announced that a Lightweight bout between MMA vet Yves Edwards (42-20-1) and Poland’s Piotr Hallma (14-2) has been moved form UFC 173 to UFC Fight Night Albuquerque. Hallman will be looking to start a new win streak after win 10 fight stretch, that included a submission of BJJ black belt Francisco Trinaldo; was ended by a decision loss to Aliaquinta. Edwards is 2-4-0-1,nc in his last 7,but that’s misleading as his last 2 official losses have come by split decision to Isaac Vallie-Flagg and Daron Cruickshank. Most recently a KO loss to Yancy Medeiros was changed to a no contest after Mederiors failed the post fight drug screen.

UFC Fight Night Albuquerque takes place on June 7 at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico; headlined by former UFC Lightweight champion Benson “Smooth” Henderson taking on rising star Rustam “Tiger” Khabilov.
