Davis Challenges Rousey at UFC 175

Rumors have been flying around the MMA world about who will be “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey’s (9-0) next challenger. The names thrown around ranged from Gina Carano, to Christine “Cyborg” Justino, and even Holly Holm. The dust from the rumor mill has cleared and Alexis “Ally-Gator” Davis (16-5) has been name to oppose Rousey in the UFC 175 co-main event.

Rousey a former Judo Olympian, in 3 UFC bouts has defended her Women’s World Bantamweight championship by submitting Liz Carmouche (armbar) and Miesha Tate (armbar); and most recently at UFC 171 scoring her first career (T)KO, stopping Sara McMann by a knee to the liver. Ronda get “Rowdy” with the armbar that she has used to score 8 of her 9 wins.

Davis a member of the Cesar Gracie Fight Team is on a 5 fight winning streak that includes UFC wins over Rosi Sexton (UD), Liz Carmouche (UD), and Jessica Eye (SD). Davis is a black belt in both Japanese and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The “All-Gator” has 7 of 9 stoppage wins by submission.

UFC 175 on July 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events center in Las Vegas Nevada; and is headlined by Lyoto Machida challenging Chris Weidman for the UFC Middleweight title.
