After much rumor and speculation it’s now official that Welterweights Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley (13-2) and Rory “Ares” MacDonald (16-2) will meet in what most likely will be a number one contenders match at UFC 174.
American Top Team’s Woodley is 3-1 in 4 UFC bouts knocking out Jay Hieron, losing by split decision to Jake Shields, knocking out Josh Koscheck and most recently at UFC 171 scoring a TKO by leg injury win over Carlos Condit.
MacDonald is 6-1 in his last 7 fights with wins over Nick Diaz (UD), Mike Pyle (TKO), Che Mills (TKO), BJ Penn (UD), Kae Ellenberger (UD), and Demian Maia (UD); and the lone loss came by split decision to Robbie Lawler.
UFC 174 on June 14 takes place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada.
