Shields Injury, Leads to Burkman vs. Fitch 3 at WSOF 11

The WSOF debut of former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields has been postpone by injury. Shields originally booked opponent Jon Fitch (25-6-1) will remain on the WSOF 11 card, concluding a trilogy with Josh Burkman (27-10)

Fitch a long time member of the American Kickboxing Academy is 1-2 in last 3 fights, with losses to Demian Maia (UD) and Josh Burkman (SUB); Fitch recently got back in the win column with a split decision victory over Marcelo Alfaya. Fitch drew blood first against Burkman winning a unanimous decision in 2006 at UFC Fight Night 4.

Burkman is 6-1 his last 7 bouts. At WSOF 6 Burkman was submitted by Steve Carl in the inagural WSOF Welterweight title bout, ending a 5 fight win streak. “The People’s Warrior” rebounded at WSOF 9 knocking out Tyler Stinson in the 1st round.

WSOF 11 is scheduled for July 5, but a venue has not been announced. The main event has been announced ans will see “Notorious” Nick Newell challenging Justin Gaethje for the WSOF Lightweight title.
