Bellator 123 adds 3 Bouts

Bellator MMA has announced 3 more bouts for Bellator 123 that will make up the events main card.

At Heavyweight there will be a battle between UFC vets Cheick Kongo (21-9-2) and Lavar Johnson (18-9). Kongo is 3-1 since joining Bellator, including at Bellator 120 defeating Eric Smith by 2nd round TKO. Johnson has not fared as well going 1-2, coming off suffering his 6th career loss by submission, to Blagoi Ivanov at Bellator 116.

In the Light Heavyweight division for Strikeforce champion and Bellator Tournament winner “King Mo” Muhammed Lawal (12-4) clashes with UFC vet Tom Deblass (9-2), who is 2-0 in the Bellator cage with wins over Carlos Brooks (TKO) and Jason Lambert (KO). Lawal will be looking to rebound from a controversial decision loss to “Rampage” Jackson at Bellator 120, in the season 10 Light Heavyweight tournament finals.

Crossing back over from the ring to the cage, TNA Impact Wrestling superstar Booby Lashley (10-2) will make his Bellator MMA debut against 4 time Bellator vet Josh Burns (8-7). Lashley has won 3 fights in a row over Kevin Saplund (SUB), Matt Larsom (SUB), and Tony Melton (UD). Burns has won 2 of his last 3 fights, including a 15 second TKO of Matt Eckerle.

The UFC an Bellator will go head to head on September 5 as both promotions will be presenting live TV events in Connecticut, UFC Fight Night 50 and Bellator 123. Bellator 123 takes place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, and the event is headlined by Patricio “Pitbull” Freire challenging Pat Curran for the Bellator Featherweight title.
