Battle at Sunset Topped by Pitbull – Marrufo WBC Title Bout

The line up for the Battle at Sunset is starting to come into focus with the event poster being released.

Last week I wrote a pair of articles concerning slowly released information for this inaugural event for Chavez/Crespin promotions at the newly renovated McKernan Event Center. The three major to be announced opponents that we talked of last week have been found, but there;s still one spot on the card to fill.

Main Event- Josh “Pitbull” Torres(13-3-1, 6KO) vs. Jose Marrufo (4-2-1) for WBC USNBC Welterweight Title

Co main Event- Arturo “El Toro” Crespin(11-3-1, 4KOs) vs. Joey Ruelas (8-1-1 3KO)

Alex Holguin (1-1) vs. Macelo Cloud (0-1)

Jose Osorio (0-1) vs. Gene Perez (1-1)

James Martinez vs. TBA

 

 Team Tapia’s Josh “Pitbull” Torres(13-3, 6 ko) who is 6-2 in his last 8,and is coming off a 2nd roundknockout of Francisco Lira in the main event of May 31st Dia de Johnny Tapia event. Phoenix Arizona’s Marrufo started off his career 0-2-1,but has since won found straight decisions.

The co-main event features Las Vegas New Mexico’s Arturo “Le Torro” Crespin (11-3-1, 1nc 4KO) is the winner of 4 of his last 5 coming off a split decision win over Julio Cesar Lanzas at the Chavez Promotions Fights at Pal Auditorium event. Ruelas is coming off a 1st round KO loss to Izaac Cardona that ended a 4 fight win streak.

Alex Holguin (1-1) also scored a win at the Chavez Promotions Fights at Pal Auditorium event, defeating Brandon Salazar by unanimous decision, but will be looking to rebound from a decision loss in Phoenix to Emmanuel Nieves. Cloud is coming off a deut TKO loss to Brandon Salazar at Dia de Johnny Tapia.

Gene “The Kid” Perez (1-1) vs. Jose Osorio (0-1). Perez also fight in MMA and is coming off back to back wins over Mikey Lovato. This will be the first boxing match for Perez since a December 2012, 1st round TKO loss to Jason Sanchez at the Route 66 Casino. Osario is still in search of his first pro win coming off a 1st round knock out loss to  Luis Montano, at the Holmes Boxing May event “Latin Collision”.
