Legacy FC 36 Press Conference Coverage

8260051-1Today at Tia Juanita’s inside the Albuquerque International Sunport Airport Fresquez Productions held a press conference to announce Legacy FC 36 at the Route 66 Casino’s Legends Theater on October 17th.

The big guys are coming out for the main event as Cody “The Freight Train” East collides with Vernon Lewis for the vacant Legacy FC Heavyweight world title.

Los Lunas’s East who now lives in Albuquerque is in position for his 2nd world title also having claimed the King of the Cage Heavyweight title in June of 2013 with a unanimous decision win over Nick Rossborough. East last fought at Havoc a Fresquez Productions event in December of 2013 knocking out Esteves Jones in under 2 minutes. The knock out was the 6th of “The Freight Train’s” career.

Waco, Texas’s Lewis has won 4 in a row, with the last 3 all by knock out. Lewis is no stranger to Legacy defeating James Hall by TKO at LFC 19. Lewis does have two losses to his record but those L’s come against stiff competition, current UFC fighter Richard Odoms (UD) and Bellator fighter Ryan Martinez (TKO). Lewis most recently in July stopped Eric Lunsford in just over 2 minutes.

The co-main event, fighting at home for the first time in 6 years will be Jackson/Winkeljon’s fighter Damacio “The Angel of Death” Page when meets Brazil’s Alan “Puro Osso” Nascimento, a member of the Macaco Gold Team, who’s won 6 straight by submission; and is a XFC International vet. Nascimento is 1-1 in Legacy with a knee bar ov Terry Acker and a unanimou decision loss to Will Campuzano. Page is dead set on returning to the UFC and since being released has won 3 straight under the Legacy banner, defeating Patrick Ybarra (KO), Matthew Lozano (TKO), and Elias Garcia (SUB), but also has suffered a controversial split decision loss to Marcelo Costa in Switzerland.

Fellow Jackson/Winelkjohn’s fighter former King of the Cage 145 lbs. champion Donald Sanchez a 41 fight MMA vet is expected to on the card, but is still awaiting an opponent. The same goes for Sao Paolo Brazil’s Michelle Nicolini.

At Flyweight undefeated Barra Gracie and Chavez Dojo fighter Rafael “Barata” De Freitas coming off a Legacy FC 18 draw against Antonio Banuelos faces Jordan Espinosa 2-2 in his last 4 and the winner of his last 2, over Robert Browning (SUB) and Jeremy Pender (UD).

Clint Roberts of Winks Gym coming off a 2nd round TKO of Randy McCarty at Triple A MMA VII: Rock Stars, returns to the Legacy cage for a 2nd time this time meeting fellow 2nd timer Lenny “The GodFather” Lovato who’s lost 3 in a row, but is also scheduled to headline Combat Extreme’s “Rumble at the Ranch” in Los Lunas New Mexico on September 20th.

A bout that is scheduled but hangs in the balance is a women’s 115 lbs. bout between Chavez Dojo’s Angelic Chavez and Santa Fe Muay Thia’s Natalie Roy. Chavez is scheduled to face Stephanie Skinner at Combat Extreme’s “Rumble at the Ranch” in Los Lunas New Mexico on September 20th., while Roy is meeting Jackson’s/Winkeljon’s fighter Nohime Dennison in the main event of Triple A MMA X: Rock Solid at the Camel Rock Casino on September 27th.
