Marshall vs. Manhoef headlines Bellator 125
A match-up of Middleweight knockout artists between Doug “The Rino” Marshall (18-7) and Melvin Manhoef (28-11-1, 1 nc) will headline Bellator 125 on September 19th, at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.
Marshall is a former WEC champion and is the season 8 Bellator Middleweight tournament winner, who will be looking to rebound from a TKO by body shoot, loss in an attempt to dethrone Middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko.
Manhoef is a vet of K-1, Strikeforce, Dream and One FC, to name a few. Manhoef also holds a 37-12 kickboxing record. In kickboxing Manhoef has lost 6 in a row against some of the toughest competition in the sport. In MMA Manhoef in April ended a 2 fight skid with a 46 second TKO of Evangelista Santos.
The promotion also announced the 3 other bouts that will compile the main card.
A second helping of Middleweight knock artists will come in the form of Brain “The Predator” Rodgers (11-6) vs. James “The Sandman” Irvin (17-10). Rogers is coming off scoring his 9th career KO win, stopping Adrian Miles with a flying knee at Bellator 119. Irvin who has 12 win by KO, is 1-2 in his last 3 coming off a TKO loss toScott Rosa.
At Featherweight Brazil’s Gotit Yamauchi (17-2) coming off a Bellator 120 decision win over Mike Richman, faces England’s Martin “.50 Cal” Stapleton (13-3), who is 0-2 in Bellator with losses to Saad Awad (SUB) and Derek Campos (UD), but is coming off submitting Stanislav Enchev.
In a Heavyweight clash Raphael Butler (8-0-1), coming off battling Nick Rossborough to a majority draw, battles Javy Ayala (7-3), who in two Bellator appearances knocked out former tournament finalist Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos.
