Joby Sanchez Meets Tateki Matsuda at UFN 59

A Flyweight bout between Albuquerque’s Joby Sanchez (6-1) & Japan’s Tateki Matsuda (10-6) has been added to January 18th’s UFC Fight Night in Boston, Massachusetts.

Joby Sanchez will head into his 2nd UFC fight in search of his first promotional win. Sanchez a lifelong martial artist who built his foundation at the Chavez Dojo, now trains at Jackson’s/ Winklejohn’s MMA. Sanchez a XFC vet, was the first XFC open tryouts contract winner. Early in August of 2014 Sanchez returned to the cage, after a 11 month layoff at TPF 20; scoring a 2nd round TKO of WEC vet Antonio Banuelos. 16 days later, on short notice Sanchez made his UFC debut and suffered his first career loss; a unanimous decision to Wilson Reis.

Much in the same shoes as his opponent Tateki Matsuda will also enter the octagon for the 2nd time, looking to walk out the victor for the 1st, coming off a on short notice, debut, unanimous decision loss to Chris Beal. Matsuda. Who hails from Japan will be fighting in his 2nd home as he now trains in Boston with Team Sityodtong. Matsuda has 4 of 5 stoppage wins by (T)KO.
