RFA 24 Smith vs. Romero for Welterweight Title
For RFA 24 Smith vs. Romero, on March 6th, Resurrection Fighting Alliance will be at the Mystic River Casino & Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota.
After RFA 22 ended with Chidi Njokuani defeating Gilbert Smith by unanimous decision the Welterweight title was still vacant, due to Njokuani having missed weight. Now Benjamin Smith (10-2) will tangle with Tat Romero (24-5) for the vacant RFA 170 lbs. title.
Smith a member of Xtreme Couture, has won 5 in a row, including at RFA 20, defeating Josh Cavan by unanimous decision. Romero who fights out of the Minnesota Fight Factory is riding a 6 fight win streak, with 4 of the wins coming by knock out. Romero has been a pro MMA fighter since 2004 and in that time has racked up 21 stoppage wins with 12 knock outs.
In the nights co-main event Jeff Curran (36-16-1) meets Melvin Blumer (11-2). Curran has been a pro fighter since 1998 and has fought for the UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, XFO; and will be getting back to action for the first time in 18 months. Curran last fought at RFA 9 losing a split decision to Pedro Munhoz. Blumer is currently on the longest win streak of his career, having won his last 5, including his most recent win a knock out of Dennis Dombrow.
Marvin Blumer (11-4) , Melvin’s brother will also be in action squaring off with Jarred Mercado (12-2). Blumer has won 4 of 5, rebounding from a King of the Cage TKO loss to Frankie Saenz, with a RFA 19, guillotine choke, submission of Junior Maranhao. Mercado is 2-1 in his last 3 coming off a RFA 20, TKO loss to Luke Sanders, which came after consecutive decision wins over Josh Huber and Daniel Swain.
Also official for RFA 24 is Dan Moret (7-1) vs. Daniel Swain (12-4-1), Andre Tieva (8-0) vs. Matt Brown (9-4), and Bojan Velickovic (9-3) vs. Chris Hugh (16-9).
