Brooks vs Jansen & Carvalho vs Schilling Booked For Bellator 136

The forgotten tournament winner Dave “The Fugitive” Jansen (20-2) will get his shot at dethroning Bellator Lightweight champion “Ill” Will Brooks (15-1) in the main event of Bellator 136 on April 10th, at the Bren Events Center in Irvine, California.

Jansen is a perfect 7-0 in Bellator, including a submitting Magomed Saadulaev and decision wins over Ricardo Tirloni and Marcin Held, which lead “The Fugitive” to winning the Bellator 2012 Lightweight tournament winner. Jansen returned from a long injury layoff at Bellator 130 and scored his 3rd straight win by decision unanimously defeating Rick Hawn. Jansen has 9 of the 10 stoppage wins by way of submission.

Brooks has won 6 fights in a row including a split decision win over Michael Chandler to become the interim Bellator Lightweight champion, at Bellator 120 and a Bellator 131, 3rd round TKO of Michael Chandler; which earned Brooks the right to drop interim from his title. Making Brooks officially the 3rd Lightweight champion in Bellator’s history. Brooks is a member of American Top Team and has 9 stoppage wins with 5 by knock out.

Will Brooks Bellator 136 Promo…

Along with the main event announcement came the the announcement’ of a Middleweight bout that will see 2014 knock out of the year candidate Joe Schilling (2-3) against Brazilian slugger Rafael Carvalho (10-1).

Shcilling a former Glory Kickboxing world champion, who will be in action on Feb. 6th at Glory 19, is coming off a Bellator 131 knock out of Melvin Manhoef. The bout was Schilling’s first time in the cage in 6 years.

Carvalho, since being submitted in his pro debut has won 10 in a row with 9 knock out and is coming off a Bellator 125 1st round TKO of Brain Rogers in his Promotional debut.
