September 5th will be the date for UFC 191 in Las Vegas. Last night during UFC Fight Night 71 it was announced that the UFC 191 main event will see John “The Magician” Dodson challenge Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson for the UFC Flyweight World championship; for the 2nd time.
Since dropping a 5-round unanimous decision to Johnson t UFC on Fox 6, Dodson has defeated Darrell Montague (KO), John Moraga (TKO), recovered from a torn ACL , and most recently took a unanimous decision from Zach Makovsky/
Since moving down to a 125 lbs. Johnson has been nearly perfect going 8-0-1 with 8 consecutive wins . “Mighty Mouse” has won 4 of his last 5 by stoppage, including most recently submitting
The card will also see number 1 ranked UFC Light Heavyweight Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (19-5) take on number 12 ranked Jan Blachowicz (18-4). Johnson will be looking to rebound from having his 9 fight win streak ended by Daniel Cormier at UFC 187. Blachowicz is coming off having a 6 fight win streak ended by a unanimous decision loss to Jimi Manuwa.
On a 3 fight win streak coming off a unanimous decision win over Felice Herrig, Oaige Van Zant (5-1) will meet Alex Chambers (5-2) who’s coming off submitting Kailin Curran with an armbar at UFC Fight Night 65.
In the Bantamweight division coming off a 21 second destruction of Alex Caceres, Francisco Rivera (11-4) faces John Lineker (25-7) who is 6-1 in his last 7 and will be moving up from the Flyweight division after having major problems making weight. Lineker last fought at UFC 183 taking a unanimous decision from Ian McCall.
