Former UFC World Heavyweight champion will meet in the co-main event of UFC 191, as the recently rumored bout between Andrei Arlovski (24-10) & Frank Mir (18-9), was officially announced Saturday night.
Arlovski has won 7 of his last 8 and is on a 5 fight win streak that includes wins inside the octagon over Brendan Schaub (sd), Antonio Silva (ko), and Travis Browne (tko). “The Pit Bull” has 17 of 20 stoppage wins by knock out, but has lived and died by the sword with 7 of 10 loss by knock out.
Mir in his last 2 fights has ended a 4 fight losing streak with a 1st round knock out of Antonio Silva and got himself back in title contention with a 1st round knock out of Todd Duffee. Mir has 9 of 14 stoppage wins by submission and like Arlovski 7 knock out losses.
UFC 191 is on September 5th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada; the main event will see John Dodson challenging Demetrious Johnson for the UFC Flyweight World Championship.
