The Ultimate Fighting Championships have announced that they will be back in Mexico for UFC Fight Night 79 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, with a Welterweight main event of Matt “The Immortal” Brown (20-13) against TUF season 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum (11-1).
Brown who is the number 5 ranked UFC Welterweight is 8-2 in his last 10 coming off a UFC 189, 1st round submission of Tim Means. This will be Brown’s 3rd main event fight with a TKO of Erick Silva and a decision loss to Robbie Lawler.
Gastelum is 6-1 inside the octagon. Gastelum will return to Welterweight after a trip to Middleweight at UFC 188 defeating Nate Marquardt (tko). The trip up a weight class was forced by the UFC as Gastelum as looked bad and had troubles reaching the 171 lbs Welterweight limit.
