Edgar Meets Mendes in TUF 22 Finale Main Event

The TUF 22 Finale on December 11th in Las Vegas, now has an official main event with Frankie “The Answer” Edgar (19-4-1) meeting fellow top Featherweight Chad “Money” Mendes.

Since moving down to 145 lbs. Edgar has been nearly flawless winning 4 out of 5 and 4 in a row. The lone loss for Edgar at Featherweight came via 5-round unanimous decision to World Champion Jose Aldo at UFC 156. Since the Aldo bout, Edgar has defeated Charles Oliveira (ud), BJ Penn (tko), Cub Swanson (sub), and Urijah Faber (ud).

Mendes is 6-2 in his last 8. A 5 fight win streak, that saw 4 wins come by knock out led Mendes to his 2nd shot at dethroning Jose Aldo. Their 2nd encounter at UFC179 would go down has the greatest UFC featherweight title bout to date. The contest would end with Aldo taking a unanimous decision. Mendes would rebound 6 months later stopping Ricardo Lamas in under 3 minutes. Mendes will now again be looking to get himself back in the title picture following an on short notice TKO loss to Connor McGregor at UFC 189, which was for the UFC interim Featherweight title, Mendes was serving as a replacement for an injured Aldo.
