Cruz & Dillashaw Tangle for Title Jan. 17th

The 1st ever UFC World Chanpionship bout to take place on Fox Sports 1 will be in Boston on January 17th, with Dominick “The Dominator” Cruz (20-1) challenging TJ Dillashaw (12-2), for the title that Cruz never lost, but was stripped of due to injury.

Alliance MMA member Dominick Cruz has won 11 straight. In September of 2014 at UFC 178 Cruz, fighting for the first time in 3 years scored a 1st round knock out of Takeya Mizugaki. Cruz has since again been sidelined by injury. Cruz won the WEC Bantamweight title in March of 2010. In all with the WEC & UFC belts Cruz had 4 successful defenses before this rash of injuries.

Duane Lugwig’s top student TJ Dillashaw, who’s a member of Team Alpha Male, has won 4 in a row and 8 of 9 with the lone loss coming via split decision to Raphael Assuncao. Dillashaw at UFC 173 captured the title with a 5th round TKO of Renan Barao. Dillashaw has since twice defended the belt with a 5th round KO of Joe Soto and a 4th round TKO of Renan Barao.
