A former Middleweight Tournament Winner, now 2-0 at Welterweight “Irish” Brennan Ward will look to continue his quest for another title shot at Bellator 144, when he takes on Dennis Olson.

CM:How old were you when you started wrestling?
BW: Been wrestling since I was a kid. Started in judo and then as i got a bit older i found wrestling.
CM: What was the thing, fight, video, or person who got you interested in MMA?
BW: There wasn’t really a moment or fight or event that sealed it for me my dad owns a gym and i was always around it so it was normal as going into the family trade, like other kids who’s dads own construction company’s or pizza restaurants.

CM: What part of MMA has been the hardest for you to learn?
BW: The hardest part is the grind of the training. Living in Connecticut I’m traveling all the time. To Boston to providence back and forth and then for a month or so at at time to California. I try to base as much as i can from my dads gym, we have whaling city boxing where i do mitts with him and spar with a few of my boys. We recently started whaling city jiu-jitsu, and that mat room has some top flight wrestlers and grapplers. To get in work with top level MMA guys, I’m out to see Mark Delagrotte in Boston or TriForce in Providence and Kings MMA in Cali. That’s the toughest.

CM: How would you describe what MMA means to you?
BW: Mma is a job to me. That’s all it means.
CM: You’ve looked like a beast since dropping to welterweight what do you need to get done to get your second Bellator title shot?
BW: I need to go out and put a stamp on this next fight. That might get me the title shot but i don’t sweat it. It will come. I was in the wrong weight class at 185. Literally cutting no weight. Had guys coming down from 220 plus.
CM: It seems like a double edged sword your really popular in Connecticut your home area, but how much would you like to expand and fight in a new state/venue?
BW: I’m looking forward to fighting elsewhere. I love my home state but I’m looking forward to representing us on a bigger stage so people can see what CT means. New England blue collar hard work.
CM: What will be your biggest advantage against Dennis and is their any area of the game were he can threaten you?
BW: Dennis has a good ground game but nothing that worries me.
CM: Lastly, what comes next after this win?
BW: After this next win… time off is next.
