Newton – Vassell 2 added to Bellator 149

In a rematch from Bellator 130 former Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion Emanuel Newton (25-9-1) and Linton Vassell (15-5) will square off once again February 19th.

Bellator 130 saw Vassell dominate 4 rounds before getting submitted in the 5th by Newton, allowing Newton to retain the Bellator Light Heavyweight title.

Newton will be looking to rebound from losing his title via decision to Liam McGeary at Bellator 134 and being submitted by Phil Davis in the 1st round of the Bellator “Dynamite” Light Heavyweight Grand Prix. The loss to McGreary ended a 6 fight win streak.

For Vassell the Bellator 130 loss ended a 8 fight win streak. Then at Bellator 134 Vassell got back on track with a TKO of Thierry Sokoudjou. Vassell like Newton lost in the 1st round of the Bellator “Dynamite” Grand Prix with “King Mo” taking a decision.

Bellator 149 will be on February 19th at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas; headlined by the 3rd meeting between Ken Shamrock & Royce Gracie.
