UFC Fight Night Brazil transforms to UFC 198
Originally announced as a UFC Fight Night, which was going to be headlined by Vitor Belfort vs. “Jacare” Souza. The May 14th event in Curitiba, Brazil, which will be the UFC’s firs event there; will now be UFC 198 headlined by a Heavyweight Championship contest.
Due to injuries to Cain Velasquez & Fabricio Werdum UFC 196 changed to UFC Fight Night 82.
Werdum has apparently recovered enough from his back injury to take on Stipe Miocic, who the UFC announced was going to replace an injured Cain Velasquez at UFC 196, before Werdum announced his withdrawal due to injury.
Werdum of Kings MMA is 6-0 in his 2nd run in the UFC, including having submitted “Big Nog” and Cain Velasquez; plus scoring a TKO of Mark Hunt. Miocic is a member of Strong Style Fight Team and is 10-2 in the UFC, with his last 3 wins all via TKO, stopping Fabio Maldonado, Mark Hunt, and Andrei Arlovski; who was on a 6 fight win streak.
