Inside sources have let cagedminds know that a 125 lbs. bout between a pair of Legacy FC vets, has been added to Fresquez Promotions, Rumble on Route 66.
The match-up will see Perez Fighting Systems, head coach Gene “The Kid” Perez (4-7) against JacksonWink/Gracie Barra’s Rafael “Barata” de Freitas (6-1).
Gene along with significant other (Ashley) and brother (Derek) run Perez Fighting Systems in Belen, New Mexico. Perez will go to battle, anywhere, cage, or ring. In the last year Perez has had 4 boxing matches and 1 MMA fight. In the ring Perez has fought top notch competition such as Jason Sanchez, Patrick Holmes Jr., and Alex Holguin. In the cage Perez, scored consecutive wins over Mikey Lovato before being submitted by Jesus Urbina at KOTC “Onslaught”, in April of 2015.
Rafael “Barata” de Freitas is a BJJ Black Belt and BJJ genius, or at least that’s what I call a guy who invented his own submission, a shoulder lock, the “Baratoplata”. De Freitas started his MMA career 6-0, with 5 submission victories. But in two fights in the Legacy cage, “Barata” fought Antonio Bauelos to a draw and dropped a decision to Jordan Espinosa.
Rumble on Route 66 takes place on Saturday, April 2nd, at the Route 66 Resort Casino’s Legends Theater, west of Albuquerque. The nights feature attraction will see JacksonWink’s Conrad Padilla against Chevy Charles Bridges.
