Retirement Over, Suspension Not, Wanderlei Silva Signs with Bellator

Wanderlei-Silva

UFC vet, former Pride champion, Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva (35-12-1-1) will  be returning to action, this time in the Bellator cage.

It’s being reported that the Brazilian, MMA legend, has signed a Multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA.

Silva, had announced his retirement from MMA in 2014, following a lifetime suspension, for running from a random drug test prior to a scheduled UFC 175 bout vs. Chale Sonnen. In May of 2015 that ruling was changed to a 3-year suspension. The suspension will be up in the spring of 2017.

Mind you, this suspension doesn’t stop Silva from fighting overseas, like say possibly going to Japan and getting in the Rizin ring.

Inside the cage Silva has won 3 of his last 5 and last fought in March of 2013 scoring a knock out win over Brian Stann at UFC on Fuel TV 8. Silva has 25 of 28 stoppage wins by knock out. “The Axe Murderer” holds notable wins over Rampage Jackson, Dan Henderson, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Michael Bisping.
