Via Facebook, Albuquerque’s, Alex Holguin (7-1) recently announced that he had signed his contract and will be part of Holmes Boxing’s “Showdown”, May 14th at the Buffalo Thunder Resort 7 Casino.
Holguin then confirmed then his opponent will be Las Cruces, Ivan Lucero (0-2). Lucero in 2015 lost to Brain Mendoza via knock out and fought Eduardo Dominguez to a decision.
Holguin has won 6 straight, with 4 knock outs in this run and is coming off a majority decision win over Gene Perez. It had been expected that Holguin would be facing Patrick Holmes Jr. in a title bout but a injury to Holmes Jr. nixed that. Holguin is also expected to compete at the June 11th, Aztec Warfare event in Albuquerque, presented by IMI Group & Legacy Boxing.
When asked if he had a comment on the upcoming fight Holguin said “I want to thank everyone who’s supported me up to this point in my career, show up May 14th and I promise to put on one heck of a show!!!!”
