Overeem Challenges Miocic for Heavyweight Crown at UFC 203

The 50 year championship drought for Cleveland has ended. The UFC has announced that the newest, baddest man on the planets, first title defense will come against a man who has collected titles around the world, and the fight will take place in the LAND.

The champion Stipe Miocic (15-2) of The Strong Style Fight Team has won 6 of 7 an 3 straight, with TKO’s of Mark Hunt and Andrei Arlovski; plus his under 3 minute knockout of Fabricio Werdum to win the UFC World Heavyweight title. Miocic has 11 of 12 stoppage wins via knockout.

Alistair Overeem (41-14) born in the Netherlands and training out of JacksonWink MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico; has won 4 straight including TKO’s of Junior Dos Santos and Andrei Arlovski. During his combat sports career Overeem has held titles in Pride, Strikeforce, Deep, and K-1 (kickboxing). From November of 2007 to December 2011 Overeen went undefeated 12 straight MMA fights.

UFC 203 will be on September 10th at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
