Reis Not TUF 24 Winner Getting Next Shot at Johnson
Demetrious Johnson (24-2) will look to get one more title defense in, before TUF 24 filming even starts .
July 30th the co-main event of UFC 201 will see Wilson Reis (20-6) challenging “Mighty Mouse” for the UFC Flyweight title.
TUF 24 is expected to start filming in August and airing on TV in the fall, with the winner receiving a Flyweight title shot.
Johnson has successfully defended the UFC 125 championship 8 times, with 5 of the wins coming by stoppage, including destroying Henry Cejudo with knees in the clinch, in under 3 minutes at UFC 197.
Reis has won 3 of 4 since dropping to Flyweight, with decision wins over Joby Sanchez and Dustin Oritz, plus submitted Scott Jorgensen.
In a thin division, Reis is the only guy in the top 10 coming off a win, who hasn’t fought the champ. Reis is very experienced in BJJ, and has solid wrestling and Boxing. Johnson should have a big advantage in the clinch and with elbows, knees an kicks.
UFC 201 will be July 30 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia; and is headlined by Tyron Woodley challenging Robbie Lawler for the UFC Welterweight World title.
