The UFC on UFC Tonight announced that 2 guys who are combined 0-3 against Demetrios Johnson, will be the coaches of a crop of fighters who will battle to be his next challenger.
The 24th season of TUF will be coached by Joesph Benavidez & Henry Cejudo. There will no no tryouts for the season, as the UFC has picked champions from other promotions around the world to compete.
At the TUF 24 Finale the season winner will challenge “Mighty Mouse” for the UFC Flyweight title in the main event, while the co-main event will see the coaches squaring off. The cast of fighters was not revealed. The show will film at the end of summer and should air in the fall.
Johnson (24-2-1) is undefeated at 125 lbs. with a 10 fight win streak and 8 straight title defenses. At UFC 197, with vicious knees and some follow up ground and pound the champ handed Henry Cejudo his first loss in MMA.
Cejudo (10-1) was 4-0 in the octagon with all 4 wins coming via decision, prior to the loss to Johnson.
Benavidez (24-4) has lost twice to Johnson the first time in the inaugural UFC Flyweight title bout via split decision and the second by 1st Rd knock out. Benavidez has since won 5 straight with 4 decision wins.
