During the UFC Fight Night 88 main card, it was announced that at UFC 203 former Heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum (20-6-1) will take on fellow well traveled vet Ben Rothwell (36-10).
Werdum will be looking to rebound from a 1st round knock out loss to Stipe iocic, who’ll be defending his newly won title in the nights main event. The loss was Werdum’s first since mid-way through 2011, a span that saw a 6 fight win streak with2 TKO’s and 2 submissions including a guillotine that won a world title.
Rothwell will look to rebound from a UFC Fight Night 86 unanimous decision loss to former champion Junior Dos Santos, ending a 4 fight win streak in which Brandon Vera and now number 1 contender Alistair Overeem where TKO’ed; and Matt Mitirione and Josh Barnett where submitted.
UFC 203 is September 10th at the Quickens Loan Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
