Caldwell-Taimanglo & Guillard-Rickles Announced for Bellator 159
It seemed like undefeated Darrion Caldwell (9-0) had already earned being the number 1 contender in the Bellator Bantamweight division, but that is not the case as “The Wolf” will take on Joe “The Juggernaut” Taimanglo (22-6-1) in the main event of Bellator 159.
Caldwell, who trains at Power MMA & Fitness and is a perfect 6-0 in Bellator, with 4 submission wins. At Bellator 151 Caldwell looked to have solidified his number 1 contender status by choking out former champion Joe Warren.
Guam’s, Joe Taimanglo is 5-2 in Bellator and is currently riding a 3 fight win streak that includes a knock out of Antonio Duarte. Taimanglo has 11 of 16 stoppage wins via submission.
The nights co-main event will see a Lightweight bout between Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard (32-16-2-2) & David “The Caveman” Rickles (17-4-0-1). Guillard will be looking to halt a 3 fight skid, that has seen 2 fights lost via split decision and a headbutt lead to a knockout loss. Guillard has 21 of 23 stoppage wins by knockout. Rickles recently rebound from a TKO loss to Michael Chandler with a TKO of Bobby Cooper. Six of “The Cavemans” 11 stoppage win have come via submission.
Bellator 159 will be July 22nd at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas.
