Bellator 160 Headlined by “Smooth” vs “Pitbull” & PBC News

“Smooth” Benson Henderson (23-6) will be moving back down from Welterweight to where he became a World Champion, Lightweight; meeting him there will be former Bellator Featherweight champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire (25-3).

At Welterweight inside the UFC Henderson, submitted Brandon Thatch and took a split decision from Jorge Masvidal, before signing with Bellator as a free agent. In his promotional debut, at Bellator 153, Henderson was granted a Welterweight title shot and was out stuck by champion Andrey Koreshkov en route to a dominate decision loss. At Lightweight Henderson as beat names such as Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz, Frankie Edgar, Gilbert Melendez, and Josh Thomson.

Freire is a finisher with 19 stoppage wins including 10 submissions, from a fighter who is constantly looking for the highlight reel knock out. Freire has won 9 out of his last 10 fights and event defended the Bellator 145 lbs title successfully twice. “Pitbull” recently rebound from losing his title with a 2nd guillotine choke of Henry Corrales, at Bellator 153.

The end of August is busy for Spike Sports and the Honda Center in Los Angeles, Califonira, as Bellator 160 takes place on Friday, August 26th, and Premier Boxing Championshps will be throwing a event in the same venue the next night, Saturday, August 27th; featuring Robert Guerrero taking on David Peralta, Alfredo Angulo vs. Freddy Hernandez and Terrell Gausha vs. Steve Martinez .
