Luttrell/Yee fighter Stephen Cervantes (6-1) has been given a golden opportunity.
Cervantes normally fights at 135 lbs. but for his 2nd straight short notice fight he’ll be competing at 145 lbs, against CES staple Matt “The Mangler” Bessette (19-7), with the vacant CES Featherweight title up for grabs. Cervantes will be raplacing an injured Pedro Gonzalez.
Cervantes started his pro run with 6 straight wins, including a decision over Bellator vet Shawn Bunch. Now Cervantes will be looking to rebound from his first career loss, having been submitted by Kyle Reyes at Tachi Place Fights 27.
Bessette heads into the fight winner of 6 out of his last 7 and on a 4 fight win steak that includes 3 first round submissions. Bessette has 7 of 12 stoopage victories by way of Submission.
CES 37 is August 12th at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island; and will be shown on AXS TV.
