The co-main event for Bellator 161 will feature former Bellator champion Joe Warren (13-5) against UFC vet Sirwan Kakai (12-4).
Warren is in a regroup mode, with a decision win over LC Davis being sandwiched by submission losses Marcos Galvao and Darrion Caldwell. Warren has held the Bellator Featherweight and Bantamweight titles. A wrestler all his life, the self proclaimed baddest man on the planet has grinned out 9 decisions with 3 of 4 stoppage wins coming by knock out.
Sweden’s Kakai won 3 straight, including a decision over Danny Martinez, but is now looking to get back in the win column following consecutive decision losses to Franie Saenz and Joe Taimanglo. Kakai has 10 stoppage wins with 6 coming by way of submission.
Also recently added to the card is a Lightweight bout with Derek Campos (16-6) against Djamil Chan (12-2). Campos ended a 2 fight skid at Bellator 149 with a 2nd round knock out of Melvin Guillard. Chan steps into the Bellator cage for the 2nd time on a 7 fight win streak, coming off a promotional debut, 1st round knock out of Richard Patishnock.
Bellator 161 is September 16th at the Heb Center in Cedar Texas.
