Bellator MMA will be back at the Mohegan Sun Arena, in Uncasville,Connecticut, on November 4th, with Bellator 163; and the 305 lbs championship on the line.
The headlining bout will see Bellator Lightweight Grand Prix winner Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis challenging Liam McGeary for the Bellator Light Heavyweight title.
Since signing with Bellator Davis is 3-0, having won the Grand Prix defeating Emanuel Newton (sub) and Francis Carmont (ko), in the one night. This year Davis has fought once taking a unanimous decision win Muhammed Lawal at Bellator 154.
McGeary the undefeated champion is 8-0 in Bellator. McGeary won the title at Bellator 134 with a unanimous decision of Emanuel Newton. At Bellator 142 McGeary made his 1st successful defense of the title forcing Tito Ortiz to tap, due to an inverted triangle choke.
The main card will also see a Welterweight bout between “Irish” Brennan Ward and Saad “The Assassin” Awad. Ward will be fighting for the first time since April, when he suffered a submission loss to Evangelista Santos, who 3 weeks later suffered a TKO loss to Awad. Awad is now looking to rebound from a decision loss to Derek Anderson, from Bellator 160.
In a woman’s Featherweight bout Marloes Coenen, a former Strikeforce champion, will look to rebbound from a submission loss to Alexis Dufresne, when she welcomes undefeated Brazilian Talita Nogueira to Bellator. Coenen has 17 of 20 finishes by submission, while Nogueira has 6 win, 6 finishes, with 4 submissions.
