CES will get 2017 started on January 27, at the Twin River Casino in Lincoin Rhode Island with Matt “The Mangler” Bessette (20-7) defending the CES MMA Featherweight championship against Kevin “The Hard Hitting Hillbilly” Croom (16-8) in the main event of CES 41.

Bessette will be entering his first title defense, coming off winning the title at CES 37 with a 2nd round heel hook of Joe Pingitore, which was Bessette’s 5th straight win.

Quote to CES MMA from Bessette I’m so excited for this fight. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for a fight. Kevin goes out there and he doesn’t give a (expletive), which is going to make for a really awesome fight. The belt adds to the excitement, for sure, but I’m just excited to fight a guy who comes out there and throws down, just like me.”

Croom has used his fight career to be a world traveler having competed in Mexico, Canada, Kazakhstan, Dagestan, and Japan most recently. Croom has 13 finishes with 8 by way of submission and fights out of Luttrell/Yee MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Croom has won 11 of his last 14 fights, with 9 of the wins in the first round.

Quote to CES from Croom Bring it on, In Albuquerque, where I’m from, we have some of the best training in the world, but there aren’t enough fights. So every time I’m fighting, I’m going into hostile territory against the fan-favorite. This is just every day for me, man. Let’s go.”

This fight is one that Besette called for on Axs TV, because in April of 2015 Lenny Wheeler scored a 39 second knock out of Bessette, his last loss, and Croom a year later scored a 26 scored knock out of Wheeler. Besette obviously feels a win over Croom would avenge the Wheeler loss.
