Live inside the Bingo Hall at the Isleta Resort & Casino for JacksonWink Fight Night 1. The main event pits UFC vet Joby Sanchez of the JacksonWink Academy against 10th Planet El Paso’s Jesus Urbina.

The night kicked off with a Featherweight (145) amateur contest that ended quickly as in a transition after trying to drag Guadalupe Monroy  of Zia Fight Club Farmington to the ground Tyrel Wisdom of Que Locos Disciplines, unfortunately dislocated his right shoulder, forcing the Dr. to wave off the contest.

The nights 2nd amateur bout a Bantamweight (135) bout between Daniel Alas of the JacksonWink Academy & Patricio Rodriguez of Santa Fe Muay Thia. This fight was dictated by Rodriguez and his ability to close the distance and score takedowns which he did in each round. Alas landed a solid spinning back kick a 3 punch combo in the 1st. Rodriguez would increase his output of ground and pound in the 2nd & 3rd taking the unanimous decision victory.

Fight 3 the last of our amateur contests pitted Matt Biella-Fitzpatrick of the JacksonWink Academy against Brendan Trujillo of Que Locos Disciplins in a 160 lbs. catchweight bout. The first round saw MBF scoring with combinations mainly his straight punches. Trujillo would score a takedown An get to mount taking the 2nd. MBF again controlled the striking got taken down but got up and scored one of his own. The judges would see it as a split decision with MBF getting his hand raised.

The pro card stats with Nate Flanders of the JacksonWink Academy against Rico Urquizo of Force of One in a 195 lbs catchweight bout. Flanders triples up on his leg kicks, circles but ends up back on cage. Flanders shoots in under a Urquizo right scoring a double takedown. Flanders passes to mount and ground and pounds to finish.

The nights 2nd pro bout is at Bantamweight (135) with Jerome Rivera of Luttrell/Yee MMA against Saul Elizondo of the JacksonWink Academy. The first round started off with Rivera scoring with the teep kick. Elizondo got the first takedown did very little as Rivera attacked with elbows. Rivea used a deep kimura attempt toe sweep to top. The elbows had done damage to Elizondo. In the 2nd with punches and teeps Rivera pushed forward, used his punches to set up a takedown. Elizondo in trying to escape, gave his back and Rivera finished the fight with a rear naked choke.

The 3rd pro fight is at Lightweight (155) with Brandon Trujillo of Danny’s Hideout/ Que Loco Disciplines meeting Harvey Park from Force of One. Round 1 Park is hammering leg kicks, even dropped Trujillo once with the. Park then found a home for his rights before a take down and ending the round having Trujillo in a mounted triangle raining down punches. The leg kick of Park would finish the fight quickly into the 2nd.

It’s now time for the co-main event  which is a rematch, this fight is 180 lbs catchweight with Armando Montoya Jr. of Gracie Barry/Dona Ana Boxing Club squaring off with Maurice Jackson of the JacksonWink Academy. Round 1 saw both men land leg kick and defend take downs. Jackson scores a quick takedown. Jackson in the 2nd came forward threw his punches in multiples dropping Montoya with a mix of hooks and uppercuts, the ref jumps in after a pair of follow up right hammer-fists.

Main event time with a Flyweight (125) bout pitting UFC vet Joby Sanchez of the JacksonWink Academy against Jesus Urbina of 10th Planet El Paso. Sanchez continued to pressure throughout the 2nd. Urbina was active in the clinch with knees and punches. Sanchez found a home for his jab but didn’t land with the same power as the 1st.  Sanchez in the 3rd stuffed and landed his own takedown early.  Sanchez kept the pressure on scores big with a overhand right. In the last minute Urbina got on the inside  took the back got a quick takedown but Sanchez popped right back up. Last try takedown for Urbina, Sanchez sprawls elbows and the time is over. Judges score the close split decision for Joby Sanchez.
