The Jackson’s MMA Series first event of 2017 has been announced for March 11th, for the 2nd consecutive event Josh Moreno will be in the main event spotlight, squaring off with Clovis’s Omar Acosta, who’s no stranger to be in the last fight on the night.
Moreno who splits his time between JacksonWink MMA in Albuquerque and Judgement MMA in Rio Rancho, is 2-0 as a pro. Moreno has done this in only 2 minutes and 36 seconds of cage time. Including those 2 victories, Moreno has said he’s 23-0, if you add in his amateur experience. Moreno is a heavy hitter who’s ended every fight that’s on record by knockout.
Acosta is a member of Force of One MMA, who is coming off submitting Cedrick James in the Heavyweight main event of November’s Art of War event in Clovis. The victory got Acosta back in the win Column coming off a TKO loss to Chibi Onyenegecha. Acosta has dealt with a powerful strikers before, like when he headlined King of the Cage: Ascension, against Anthony Rozema. Acosta in that fight capitalized on a Rozema mistake while trying to stand up, took the back and sank in the rear naked choke for the finish.
In the co-main event Joel Whitney of Santa Fe returns to the cage for the first time in 2 years to take on Steven Ojeda, who’s making his pro debut, after a 4-3 amateur run, that ended on a 2 fight win streak.
Jackson’s MMA Series XXI will once again take place at the Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino.
