Atrisco Kid Gets Title Opportunity in Texas

IMG_8051The vacant WBC Fecarbox Super Lightweight title will be up for grabs, in a 10-round main event of June 17th’s, Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN, with Fidel “The Atrisco Kid” Maldonado Jr. (23-3-1) against Pablo “El Demoledor” Cesar Cano (30-5-1).The event will take place at the Tostitos Championship Plaza at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The two main event fighter are heavy hitter, knock out artists, that have 40 knock outs in 53 wins.

Albuquerque’s, Maldonado, a Southpaw, who’s won 4 of his last 5, with a pair of wins on either side of a split draw with Art Hovhannisyan. In the main event of Legacy Promotions, Expo Explosion, from April 1st a defensive minded “Atrisco Kid”, walked in and out of the ring, still looking clean, taking a unanimous decision from Mohamed Rodriguez.

Cano is an Orthodox fighter, who’s been in the ring with the likes of Paul Malignaggi and Shane Mosley. Cano has won 3 of his last 5 fight and last fought in November of 2016, taking a split decision victory over Mauricio Herrera.
