A new Middleweight champion will be crowned as LFA returns to Colorado on September 8th.
Inaugural LFA Middleweight champion Eryk Anders, won the title got signed by the UFC and made a heck of a debut in Long Island.
The new LFA Middleweight champion will be either Ian “The Hurricane” Heinisch or fellow undefeated prospect Markus “Maluko” Perez . Heinisch, a 29 year old, Colorado native, who was a 2x state wrestling champion in High School. Heinish made his promotional debut at LFA 10, submitting Lucas Rota, with a key lock from the scraf hold position. Perez , 27, will be fighting for the first time outside of Brazil. In his last 2 fight Perez has scored decision wins over UFC vets Paulo Thiago & Ildemar Alcantara.
In the co-main event Colorado’s own Gilbert Smith puts on the gloves for the final time in a welterweight contest with Minnesota’s Andrew Kapel. Smith is a U.S. Army vet, who was Part of The Ultimate Fighter season 17 & 25. Smith has also fought for Bellator MMA, Titan FC, MFC, Legacy FC, and RFA; winning the RFA Welterweight title. Andrew Kapel is coming off submitting Smith’s teammate Adam Stroup at SCL 60, which is his 8th career submission victory. Smith may bring revenge into his mind in this fight, but Kapel also has the same motivation as Gilbert Smith defeated Kapel’s teammate Benjamin Smith to win the RFA Welterweight title.
Also announced for the main card is a women’s strawweight bout between Maycee Barber, who submitted Itzel Esquivel at LFA 14, & Colorado native Mallory Martin.
